We have a gentlman coming by himself to fish this weekend who would like to split the cost of a trip with someone this Friday & or Saturday.  Friday is supposed to be in the low 40s. Our winter rates are down to $325 now so the cost would be $162.50 pp per day plus fishing license and gratuity.  He would like to fish 1 day at the Gray Reef for a lot of 17-20 inch Rainbow’s and 1 day for Trophy Brown Trout at the Miracle Mile.  If your interested, please call or text us right away. 307.267.5161

The Gray Reef, Miracle Mile, and Fremont Canyon are all CURRENTLY fishing solid!!!

The nice thing about having days that are below zero is when it gets cack up to 20 or 30 degrees it feels warm.

The weather has been pretty cold this last week.  But for those who have braved the weather the fishing has been great.  Big browns are being landed at the Miracle Mile.  This is definately the time of year to get trophy Brown Trout up here and our guides know just were to get them.  Give us a call to book your trip today. 307.267.5161

Gray Reef Fly Fishing

Gray Reef Fly Fishing

All reaches of the Grey are fishing very well!  Saturday had some some gusty winds but my guests Grant & Lee still said they had the biggest Trout they have ever caught and the most in one day! Our guides will work hard and do what it takes to make sure your day on the Gray Reef is successful, even on windy days!

The upper is really picking up and fishing awesome!  Lots of big Rainbow Trout with an occasional monster Brown.  Nymphing is awesome with many opportunities to cast a dry fly here and there. The streamer fishing has beeen ok to good many days depending on the cloud cover.  Often times this isn’t the way to catch a ton of trout but you can definately get into some of Gray Reefs largest fish this way.  I had some big fish chase the 3-4 inch game changer which was pretty exciting to watch.  And for those of you who don’t know what the game changer is.  It’s a newer rainbow trout fly imitation that is 3-4 inches long that has 3 or 4 joints in the tail to create live action.  But fishing smaller streamers will often put you on more fish.

Productive Flies: brown & natural pine squirrel leeches, red rock worms, orange and chartruese eggs, black midges in morning, all sorts of blue wing patterns 11 am on, grey foam post rs2′s, Productive Streamers: coffee minow, black gold bead head wooly bugger, crawdizzle, white goldie, sex dungeons in olive & tan

Miracle Mile Brown Trout Spawn 2014

Miracle Mile Brown Trout Spawn

Miracle Mile Brown Trout Spawn

The Browns seem to be moving up into the Miracle Mile from Pathfinder Reservoir but it seems to be at a slower pace than normal.  The extraordinary warm weather we have been experiencing has effected this.  With the warm weather in the forecast for next week the Browns will get more and more aggressive as they move up river for the spawn. Yesterday when we were up there we didn’t really see many beds.  Although Max Lewis got the river to caugh up a 25 inch Brown.  Don’t wait and wish you would have booked a trip to get a trophy Brown Trout!

The Brown Trout Spawn isn’t happening yet but they are staging.  We aren’t landing 24″+browns every day like we were this time last year but they are being landed here and there and we aren’t far away. Grey Reef Fly Fishing Report

Grey Reef Fly Fishing Report

The Grey Reef was windy today.  But even on windy days it is VERY possible to have a very productive day with the hard working, back rowing, motivated, out to give you the best experience, guides that you will find when booking with Wyoming Anglers!  Check out our Guest Testimony tab to see what our other guests say about how hard our guides work. In fact our guests for today just sent me a text.  Scroll down to the bottom if you would like to read it.  Have you ever had a guide just row down the river and not change your bugs? That don’t happen with our guides.  If it did, we will refund your money and fire the guide.  lol

Productive Patterns today:

Beads in Chartruese and Orange, brown and natural pine squirrel leeches(almost always a good pattern in the wind),

“We had a good day!  Ashby did a great job, very nice guy, very professional, probably the best guide I have dealt with.  Caught a lot of fish, we were very happy, thanks a lot”

Matt Ullrich,  Dickenson, SD

They didn’t catch a lot of fish on a windy day because their guide wasn’t working his tail off! Enough said!

Miracle Mile Fly Fishing Report

Miracle Mile Fly Fishing Report-No this isn't Max's 25" Brown. Lol

The Miracle Mile wouldn’t let go of Trout easily today, but when it did, it released some BIG ones. Chuck Evans and his son Tj landed a few nice Brown Trout and a few nice Rainbow Trout.  The rest of the fish were small and few.  And we worked the water pretty hard.  We tried everything but bait and spinners.

Poor old Max Lewis only caught 1 fish today.  But it was 25 inch Brown Trout. I guess the size made up for it!

We didn’t see many spawning beds but we did catch more Brown Trout than normally.

FLIES that worked best were size 16 bead headed prince nymphs, blue wing wing olive emergers

We threw streamers quite a bit today with only a few small rewards on Olive colors.

Grey Reef Guide/Service/Fly Shop/Testimony

My experience with Wyoming Anglers goes no further than boat launch BS, mid-river updates, or takeout beers… I float the river regularly and run into all the shops in the area on a regular basis. This much I know. Aside from always beating up fish, whenever I run into a Wyoming Anglers boat I rest easy that I will have a solid, friendly, and cordial conversation with them. Unlike other outfits in the area, these guys go out of their way to make EVERYONE on the river’s experience a pleasant one. Too many times lately I have been hassled by other shops for simply floating by their guiding boats. It’s the exact opposite with Luke and his crew. This operation knows that the experience of floating a river is special and each boat or wader out there is looking for the same thing, to catch fish and have a good time. I remember last August fishing just upstream of Luke and two of his clients. Instead of lambasting my boat for catching fish near him, he instead chose to small talk and laugh with us as his clients continuously pounded fish for at least an hour. I can’t express how much his organization has impressed me and improved my experience at the Reef. I recommend his organization over any other.

Wyoming Fishing Report

Wyoming Fishing Report-Wyoming Anglers guide Oliver Ashenhurst

Here’s a text Wyoming Anglers guest Alex Gillespie sent me from his trip on Sunday after fishing the Grey Reef from Lusby to Goverment bridge for a half day.  ”Had a great trip today with Oliver on the river. He did a great job and even with all the rain we caught lots of fish.” Usually even the off weather days around here still produce a lot of fish!

If you have an antelope or some other hunting adventure booked and finish early, we WELCOME last minute reservations so give us a call!

Also if you are interested in taking avantage of our new guide special, scroll down to Oct 5th fishing report and read about it.

Our guides are already bringing some nice Brown Trout, but expect that to increase dramaticly as the browns become more agressive from here into November & December! They are already staging for the spawn.

The Grey Reef on the North Platte River is still fishing great as always!  Nothing really has changed other than the Trico’s are coming to an end.  Still some Caddis activity and Pseudos are going strong.  Nymphing is great with some dry fly action and streamer opportuinities producing big fish

The Miracle Mile on the North Platte River usually has great fishing for a portion of the day although it has it’s off days.  Fishs more like a freestone than a tailwater.

Productive flies:

  1. graphin caddis
  2. red & purple san juan worms
  3. brown pine squirrel leeches
  4. mo hair leeches
  5. crayfish
  6. blue wing patterns
  7. grey foam back rs2′s
  8. juju baetis
  9. sparkly wind rs2
  10. white bo river buggers
  11. vanilla buggers
  12. some yellow streamers

The Upper North Platte River in Saratoga the fishing is still good from 1o am on. According to guide Johny Bloominthol “fishing is dang good!  Bennett Peak all the way to fort steele.  Little moss & big fish are out eating.”

The Big Horn in Thermopolis is fishing fantastic!  Some big fish on streamers, especially with some cloud cover.  The nymphing is great guns & the dry fly fishing is sick! Don’t wait to book your trip today!

Our guides have been all over the map fly fishing in Central Wyoming.  The Miracle Mile has great nymphing opportunities right now.  The river in Saratoga is fishing good after about 10 am nymphing, streamer fishing and some dry fly action.  The Grey Reef has been fishing really good from start to finish with dry fly fishing, some streamer depending on day and cloud cover and always nymphing.  And we have been traveling to a close place were the dry fly fishing has been sick! Streamer fishing has been ok to awesome with a little cloud cover and nymphing great!  The fall fishing is awesome and you really have many options as to what body of water you want to fish, what stretch, and what method you enjoy using to catch your fish!  We have mentioned multiple bodies of water and haven’t mentioned flies working for them because nothing has really changed from the last several reports. But if you want to give us a call and ask for one of our guides we would be happy to load you up with free information to make your trip a success!

October 2nd 2014 Grey Reef Report

The upper Grey Reef fished pretty good today.  All fish were 16-20 inches.  A 5 to 7 foot rig worked well.  Remember that this time of year we don’t recommend people float up here that aren’t familiar with it.  The water is really hard to read because all the moss on the edges really slows the current down.  You have to know the slots and even for an experienced guide it’s a lot of work.  With that said, it is worth the extra effort to catch the size of fish this stretch produces.

GREY REEF:

Government Bridge down to Robertson road is fishing very well.  Red san won worms, birds nest caddis nymph, crawdad patterns, #20 bead head pheasant tail were the top producing flies the last couple days.

Miracle Mile:

The Miracle Mile is fishing very good in the mornings.  It is fishing a little slower after 1 pm. Pats rubber legs, bead headed prince nymphs, birds nest caddis pattern,  red san won worms.

Thermopolis-Big Horn River

The fishing is rediculous.  Dry fly, streamer, & nymph fishing are off the charts!!!

The fly fishing in Saratoga has been off the charts.  With fish taking a streamer almost every cast and many fish being drug to the net on dry flys.  Right now makes guides jealous if you don’t have time to personally fish because streamers and drys are what a guide dreams of.

Trico dry flies working well in am and blue wing olives in the afternoon.  Steamers are orage blossom with a black trailer.

If you are wondering whether you should come, wonder no longer.  GET HERE!!!
